Judges

We are delighted to have our judging panel confirmed for 2012. (Keep posted on the site as more have to be confirmed). Our jury is extremely experienced and highly regarded within the UK advertising and design industry. Judges bios are shown below outlining their experience and expertise.

John Mountford - JMS Group

John entered the BBC as a trainee and worked in artistic/technical capacities in World Service and Television Centre.

In BBC Presentation Department he was introduced to the heady delights of creating programme trails, also on-air presentation. There was no looking back!

Struck out as a freelance and presented Local, Regional and National TV and radio programmes; was the launch presenter for BBC Radio Norfolk, one of the launch presentation team for BBC TV Breakfast Time, and fronted a regional TV programme for 4 years.

Established JMS Group in 1983 primarily to create radio commercials. It grew into Britain's biggest independent radio commercials production business during the 1990's, and into one of the fastest-growing independent regional TV commercials production businesses today.

Besides heading the company, JM still writes and directs radio and TV (when asked nicely) but spends most of his time encouraging and nurturing creative skills in his young team.  Has been honoured to act as a Judge for Commercial Radio (CRCA) Awards, BBC Local Radio (Frank Gillard) Awards, the Royal Television Society Regional Awards and the Radio Academy Conference.

In his spare time Lee enjoys playing the drums and cycling, although not at the same time.

Simon Tuke - King and Tuke

After a Cambridge English Degree, Simon has spent nearly thirty years at some of London’s leading advertising agencies; initially as an account handler, and then as a copywriter (gamekeeper turned poacher – or vice-versa). Following spells at Davidson Pearce, WCRS, Mellors Reay and McCann Erickson, Simon has been running his own agency for the past six years. Alphabet advertising was relaunched as King & Tuke in 2010. The agency has produced award-winning work for clients such as Kames Capital, Santander Private Banking, QBE Insurance, PricewaterhouseCoopers and London Transport Museum.

Simon’s guilty secret is that he has represented his country at croquet.

His creativity doesn’t stop with the visual side of his role though, and he has written a crime novel available to download to your Kindle – should you have one!

Chris started building websites at school instead of getting a proper job. He was employed by Jay Armitage in Leeds at the age of 18 and in 1999 the two founded digital agency 'DS.Emotion' which developed a few eCommerce sites for clients such as BT. Deciding IT wasn’t their thing, Chris moved to London in 2002.

Jay and Chris stole the digital department in 2005 and this became Ralph. Now working with most major UK & US broadcasters and film studios and winning some awards here and there including a BAFTA and Emmy nomination, the team has gone from strength to strength with offices in London, LA and New York.
